Garry Texeira - Director

Garry began singing at age 12 and has been singing for over 30 years. He was voted "Most Outstanding Vocalist" during his senior year at West Covina High School in California and was honored with a Bank of America achievement award. Garry started his barbershop obsession with the Pasadena Chapter of BHS, in 1980. Then, in 1985, he had the privilege of being involved in the chartering of what is now the eight-time International Champion Chorus, The Masters Of Harmony. Garry won six of those championships with them and was an integral part of their music team.

Garry has coached and mentored many quartets and choruses over the years. He has also sung in many quartets himself, including TKO which won the Johnny Appleseed District contest in 2007 and placed in the top twenty at the International contest. Most recently he sang with Forefront, which placed in the top ten in the 2011 & 2012 International Contests, and won the Cardinal District Quartet Championship in 2010. Most notably though, starting in 1996, Garry became the tenor of Gotcha!, one of the most exciting quartets of all time. Gotcha! moved up the ranks in the BHS International Contest, becoming a Silver Medalist in 2003. Then, in 2004, they won the coveted International Quartet Gold Medal in Louisville, Ky. Garry has traveled to almost all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. He also had the honor of traveling to Ireland, Russia, Canada and Australia, to spread the word of this wonderful musical art form we call barbershop.

After Gotcha! retired in 2006, Garry moved to Indianapolis with his beautiful wife Ashley and works as a Business Consultant. They were blessed with their son Dawson in June 2009 and their son Hudson in November 2012. Garry brings a wealth of knowledge and even more enthusiasm to our chapter. We are proud to have Garry Texeira as our Director. He has directed Circle City Sound in International competition twice since joining us. His most treasured honor is to be the 2012 BOTY, or Barbershopper Of The Year, for the Greater Indianapolis Chapter. Congratulations, Garry!
